“Oslojentene kan’kje danse polka” reminds me a lot of the sea shanty “New York Girls Can’t You Dance the Polka”. Listen to Oysterband play “New York Girls” and see what you think of the comparison to “Oslojentene”: http://bit.ly/8FkY0Y.

At this time, we allow embedding of videos, so I went ahead and added it to your comment. Yes, I think there are interesting similarities between the two tunes. Those sea shanties got around — and Norwegian sailors would have been important as transmitters of those tunes.
