The farmer seeks a wife…

This week the theme for Multe Music on Saturday will be "Farm Report" and we'll feature interesting — and fun — tunes about farming and farming life. There will be tunes based on manuscripts from the Middle Ages and modern songs.

Here's one great example of a recent release, "Bonde söker fru (Farmer seeking wife)" by the Benny Andersson Orkester joined by Tommy Körberg as the lead vocalist. And, yes, that's the Orsa Spelmän playing with the band.

The song is actually a critical commentary on a Swedish reality television show of the same name (Bonde söker fru) where lonely Swedish farmers were put on display as they tried to find a possible partner.

A YouTube commenter provided a rough translation of the lyrics,

Where are you woman? Help me now, woman! Farmer seeking wife…
Come again, woman! Be my friend, woman! Farmer seeking wife…

When the horses and the goat have been put to pasture, that's when the loneliness becomes known. And to lovesick farmers there's a last resort when they feel their hearts pound, beat and burn.

Strictly private zones can be viewed by millions and Big Brother achievements provides careers. A geek undresses and "gets his mojo running". Well, that's when bad taste has crossed the limit.

The discrete charm of a cow who drops a poo, that's the pearl in the filth. The tabloids hunger for farmers and headlines, that's what we have been taught since we were small.

It's a great tune with lots of energy. Andersson wrote both the lyrics and tune for this song.
