Sometimes the Celtic and Nordic worlds unite to demonstrate the relationship between the music of these two regions. They are not the same — but they share some traits and tunes did cross between them.
Here we have some very fine women fiddlers from both sides of the ocean — the String Sisters.
The tune they are playing, Luseblus, was written by Norwegian fiddler Annbjørg Lien and can be found on her Prisme and Aliens Alive
CDs. It was written for hardingfele, but Lien is joined by the others on regular fiddle.
The String Sisters are:
- Liz Carroll (USA)
- Emma Härdelin (Sweden)
- Liz Knowles (USA)
- Annbjørg Lien (Norway)
- Catriona MacDonald (Shetland Islands)
- Mairå©ad Nå Mhaonaigh (Ireland)
Amazon carries the Live DVD as well as the String Sisters CD and the MP3s. The CD, as well as other String Sisters music, is also available from iTunes.
