I've written about Norway's top country band, Hellbillies, in a previous post.
Now let me introduce a Hellbillies offshoot — The Respatexans! They, too, are a country band. They share some members — the amazing Brothers Haugen — with Hellbillies. But they sing in English, while the Hellbillies sing in Norwegian with a Hallingdal dialect.
I think their web site does an excellent job of summing up the differences and similarities in the two bands.
The Respatexans is an off spring of Norway's most popular and respected roots rock band; The Hellbillies. Like many of the greatest bands of our time, these two bands have benefited from the unique vocal harmonies that come from siblings singing together. While The Hellbillies have taken the pulse of their Norwegian mountain roots and created a unique song catalog in their native tongue, The Respatexans have tapped into the soul of their English-speaking musical home, Americana.
The Respatexans are:
- Aslag Haugen
- Lars Håvard Haugen
- Knut Hem
- Bjørn Holm
Here's a new video from The Respatexans, "This Train Is Gone."
