Jenka or polkka? You decide…

You can run into some interesting things on YouTube…

There's a YouTube user from Russia, orvokki7, who has posted a number of videos of performances by the Karelian/Russian dance company, Ensemble Kantele

Of course, the descriptions for the videos are written in Russian with Cyrillic characters, so I'm at a loss.

But the interesting thing is that video is labeled "Finnish dance 'Hevosen polkka'".

This does not seem like a Finnish polka (polkka) to me. In fact, it looks a lot like a four-person schottis / reinlender and it definitely has the schottis/reinlender beat. And the Finnish version of a schottis is a jenka, not a polkka.

What do you think?

I agree – this is no polkka!

Seems more like a reinlender to me!
