Let's start the week with some headbanging!
I first wrote about Finnish cello metal band, Apocalyptica, back in October.
Most, if not all, of the group graduated from of the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Finland where the band began when they started getting together to play covers of Metallica songs.
One thing led to another: doing other metal covers, opening for Metallica on tour and then recording their own original metal tunes.
As I've mentioned, Apocalyptica has a MySpace page and a YouTube channel, but they unfortunately do not allow their videos to be used for embedding (such as in blog posts like this). So it hasn't been easy for me to find a video that I feel is worth showing.
But, finally, success! Here's a video of Apocalyptica performing a cover of Metallica's "Enter Sandman" live at Rock im Park (Rock in the Park) in Germany.
Playing cello never looked so cool until these Finns came along…
