Benny Andersson & Orsa Spelmän: Klinga mina klockor

After the breakup of ABBA, Benny Andersson embarked on a new phase in his musical career — one that actually took him back to his roots.

Many people are unaware that Andersson is an accomplished accordionist. His first album after ABBA was an album of music he composed, much of which is traditional gammeldans music such as schottis, waltz, etc.

The album, Klinga mina klockor, is actually a favorite of mine as it contains many beautiful tunes. And the title tune is also one of my favorites.

The tune was originally written as an almost 12 minute orchestral piece with a choral ending and I'll be sure to play it on the show someday as it is a beautiful blending of classical and folk. The main tune, a stunningly beautiful polska, is what the chorus sings at the end.

Here is a video of Andersson and Orsa Spelmän performing the tune in a lively instrumental version. Who wouldn't want to dance to this?
