The Bare Egil Band (Only Egil Band) is band fronted by Norwegian artist and comedian Egil Hegerberg.
The band is Hegerberg's solo project. He's known as a bassist in the Norwegian bands Hurra Torpedo and Blacck Debbath. Bare Egil is, of course, only Egil and is defined as a "rock / comedy / lounge" band on the band's MySpace page.
Bare Egil's 1996 debut album, Absolutt Ikke Bare Egil Band (Absolutely Not Only Egil Band) became a gold record in Norway and stayed on the charts for six months.
Here Hegerberg is (with wig and real beard) in live performance filmed by NRK at Oslo's Øya Festival.
Amy Winehouse had just cancelled her show at the festival after being admitted to a hospital suffering from "severe exhaustion". Her crew was already in Norway and the festival said "her backing band had just finished their sound check when we were notified."
So Bare Egil did a crowd-pleasing, rolliking remake of Winehouse's hit, Rehab. I think it works.
