A traditional folk group from Norway has produced an interesting video. The band is called Nordafjells and is from the central part of Norway. They record on the Ta:lik label.
They are playing a tune from Gudbrandsdal, Norway called "Kristen Nakje". The video itself is an interesting concept. Almost a VH1 meets traditional folk quality to it. I particularly like the beginning with the torader (two-row diatonic accordion) and the way that the tune builds by adding instruments in sequence.

In fact, the tune starts out with a sense of hesitation of the springleik — a traditional dance from Gudbrandsdal — that it is, but then morphs into more of a pols.
Someday I'd love to talk to members of Nordafjells about their music on Multe Music.
I don't have any CDs by this group…yet — but I'm certainly looking forward to hearing more from them. The CD with this song, General, is available from CDRoots.
Nordafjells is:
- Andreas Bjørkås (fiddle/Hardanger fiddle)
- Even Røhjell (chromatic accordion)
- Øyvind Sandum (two-row diatonic accordion/chromatic accordion)
- Knut Sneve (double bass)
- Gaute Iversen (guitar)
