Terje G. Hong & Ross Reaver: Gode Gutter

Here's an interesting way to mix it up with tradition and instrumentation.

Terje Gording Hong and Ross Reaver entered Norway's national old-time music competition — Landsfestival 2008 — with a tune written by Hong, "Gode Gutter (Good Boys)".

Hong is playing the two-row diatonic accordion, an instrument with which he has won Landsfestival categories on multiple occasions.

Reaver is playing a rather new instrument that he has developed, a WorldStick. It's featured on Reaver's MySpace page, but I couldn't find a lot of information about it — but I'll keep looking because I would like to know more about it.

Hong's MySpace page describes himself thusly:

Folk musician , music producer, composer and artist, living in Lillehammer, Norway. Likes to work experimentally within Norwegian folk music, by including several different kinds of instruments. Main focus composing and performing music is 1:  keep the traditions alive and 2:  find new ways to do it.

and contains a couple of really lovely tunes for listening.

As for the pairing of Hong and Reaver and their instruments, it was a good match.
