EVENT: Sven Ahlbäck at Brown University, April 16-18

Renowned Swedish fiddler, composer, teacher, and scholar Sven Ahlbäck will be at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island (USA) this April 16-18, 2009.

Ahlbäck will hold two lectures and one workshop. The first lecture is on April 16 at 6:00 PM. It focuses on attitudes towards folk and traditional arts in Swedish society and is sponsored by Brown's music and public humanities departments.

The second lecture, sponsored by music and cognitive science, focuses on Sven's research in music cognition and will take place on April 17th at 6:00 PM.

The workshop will take place on the 18th (theme and time yet to be determined).

All three events are open to the public, free of charge (though there will be opportunities for a free-will offering at the workshop) and will be held at the Brown music building located at 1 Young Orchard Ave., Providence, RI 02912 USA. The telephone number is +1.401.863.3234.
