Micah Taylor recently sent out the following tweet about Microsoft's new advertisement for its software, SongSmith.

Wow, Microsoft. That is just awful. – http: //bit.ly/WEWB

And he's right — on a whole host of levels. Which is why this had to be a Friday posting.

I suppose that Microsoft is attempting to make music composition "accessible" for a broader population. That's a worthy goal.

But to do so in a way that limits rhythmic beats to standard western European styles
