One of my favorite " Viking" films is the movie, The 13th Warrior.
Just before the final battle scene, the Vikings say a "prayer" (of sorts) as they prepare for the conflict.
I don't know if this is really from Viking sources, but I must say that the words stirred something within me — a glimpse, perhaps, of the world in which my ancestors lived.
Lo, there do I see my father.
Lo, there do I see my mother, my sisters and my brothers.
Lo, there do I see the line of my people back to the beginning.
Lo, they do call to me.
They bid me take my place among them in the halls of Valhalla,
Where the brave, they live forever.

Here is a video of the "prayer", followed by the final battle between the Vikings and the Wendel.
The film, by the way, is based on Michael Crichton's book, Eaters of the Dead. It was filmed in the " fjords" of British Columbia, Canada because they resemble the fjords of Norway.

I love the prayer from 13th Warrior; I wrote it down and have kept it–it does stir something–J
I agree. Though the film was officially panned and Omar Sharif gave up acting in disgust, the film has regained well deserved cult status.
It was the first time I had heard that Viking funeral prayer, and it sent shivers down my spine.
I felt proud to be human.
