This guide tells you how you can receive the most popular Norwegian, Swedish and Danish Internet radio channels/stations in their own playlists on iTunes.
The instructions are for using iTunes on a Mac, but there are files available at the bottom of the post that may work with other operating systems and/or music players.
This article is an English language translation and clarification
of information found in an article ("NettRadio")
by kolby on the Norwegian website, Mac1.no.
A video (without words!) demonstrating how to do this and how it works is available at the bottom of the original post. You might want to watch it before following the directions below. The pictures are screenshots of Norwegian iTunes, but you should be able to figure things out from the directions below.
- Download and install Flip4Mac, if you have not already done so. You must do this so that QuickTime can play the WMA formatted streams that some channels/stations use to broadcast on the Internet.
- If it is not already there, create the folder ~/Library/iTunes/Scripts/
- With iTunes closed, download Nettradio.dmg and install the file found within to the directory ~/Library/iTunes/Scripts/
- Open iTunes Go to the Script icon (pictured below) and open "Nettradio":

- Choose which radio station list you want to update and click on the button. Norsk = Norwegian | Svensk = Swedish | Dansk = Danish
- You can add all three countries by running the script three times and choosing a different country each time.
- The script will create a list called "Nettradio" in the column to the left with subheadings for the countries that you have chosen to install. It will look like this:

Note that Internet radio channels that use the WMA-format take a little longer time (at least five seconds) to start up than channels that use the MP3 format. It is also completely normal for WMA-format channels to use time on 596:31:23.
This version of the Nettradio pack is constructed in such a way that the makers can easily update the addresses to the various channels which makes it easier for the users to update their lists. All you need to do to update a list is to run the script for the appropriate country from the menu bar again every once in a while.
Those that do not have iTunes in Mac OS X may be able to open and use the following files in their music software:
- Norwegian: kanalene_no.m3u
- Swedish: kanalene_se.m3u
- Danish: kanalene_dk.m3u
Thanks to kolby — because now fans of all kinds of Scandinavian music from around the world can now tune in!

Thanks a lot. Amazing how easy it can be, when it seemed so difficult.
Happy to help!
